Stephen Baer is the Managing Partner of Baer Romain, LLP. He concentrates his practice in the areas of family law, criminal law, personal injury, civil litigation, and mediation. He began his law career as an Assistant District Attorney with the Chester County District Attorneys office and established his law practice shortly thereafter.
Stephen was born and raised in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. He received his B.A., magna
cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh in 1974 and his J.D. from Temple University in 1978. Mr. Baer was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1978, the U.S. District Court Eastern District of Pennsylvania in 1981, and the U.S. Supreme Court in 1984.
Stephen has served on many distinguished committees and groups throughout his
career. He was a member of the Board of Directors for both New Century Bank from
1992 to 2002 and the Chester County Bar Association from 1986 to 1988. He was
Solicitor for the Borough of Spring City from 1983 to 1996. He was the President
of the Phoenixville Senior Adult Activity Center in 1982, 1983, and 1986. He
served as Chairman of the Judicial Evaluation Committee of the Chester County
Bar from 1986 through 1988. He was a member of the Doris Jonas Freed Family Law
Inn of Court from 1992 to 1998. He is currently a member of the Pennsylvania
and American Bar Associations and the Pennsylvania and National Associations
of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
In addition to being a successful lawyer, Stephen is a highly trained mediator
and has been one for over ten years. He founded and now leads Mediation
Resources, a full-service mediation firm specializing in both personal and
business dispute resolution. As acknowledgement of his experience and expertise,
he has been designated an "Advanced Practitioner" Member of the Association
of Conflict Resolution. Stephen is also a contract mediator for the U.S. Postal
Service and has been on the rosters for the Montgomery and Chester County custody
mediation programs. Stephen also volunteers his services to the Montgomery County
Mediation Center.
